Almost 5 million students across Brazil are preparing for the Enem (National High School Exam). The first day of tests takes place this Sunday (9). For candidates, prior planning is essential, paying attention to exam times and guidelines.
The access gates will open at 12pm and close promptly at 1pm (Brasília time), requiring organization to avoid delays. The test will start at 1:30 pm and will last 5 and a half hours.
The marathon begins with the dissertation-argumentative writing, which requires not only mastery of the language, but also repertoire and critical sense.
In addition to the essay, candidates will answer 90 objective questions. The test is divided into two main areas: 45 questions on Languages and Codes and their Technologies, which include Portuguese, literature and five questions in English or Spanish (depending on the participant’s choice). The other 45 questions will be from Human Sciences and their Technologies, covering geography, history, philosophy and sociology.
Obviously, technical preparation is essential. But preparation goes beyond books. Professor Eduardo Dias, a specialist in study strategies and emotional intelligence, warns: “There’s no magic, it’s about having control over yourself. It’s not whoever studies more that passes, but whoever can manage their time better, control their emotions and recognize their strengths and weaknesses.”
Emotional intelligence is a crucial differentiator. Feelings such as insecurity, nervousness and anxiety are natural, but they cannot dominate. “Maintaining emotional control under the pressure of the test is the main key to passing, as this way, the student will be able to apply everything they studied to the test”, reinforces Dias. Take a deep breath, trust your preparation and face each question with serenity. Your mind is your greatest ally.
