On November 11, we celebrate National Independence Day, commemorating Poland regaining independence after 123 years of partition.. The day is not accidental, because it was then that the armistice was signed in 1918. However, at the beginning of its history in the first decades of the 20th century, this date was flexible – usually regaining independence was celebrated on the first Sunday after November 11. It was not granted the status of a public holiday until 1937.
It is a young holiday – compared, for example, to , which had its roots in the Slavic Dziady, which is why superstitions are not an inseparable part of November 11.
