To make decisions, humans will continue to ‘give 10 to 0’ in AI, says Carlos Brito

BOSTON (USA) – For Carlos Brito, “human beings will continue to give ten to zero in Artificial Intelligence”, despite all the attention that AI initiatives have received recently. The CEO of Belron and former Global CEO of AB Inbev participated in an event promoted by MBA Brasil this Friday (7) and explained his position.

“I see that there is a lot of hype, but, when it comes to value, the cases are reduced” stated the executive. According to him, the use of AI is promising in several areas, especially those related to productivity.”

However, he emphasizes that issues involving value judgment “are yet to be proven”: “AI is not good at extrapolating creativity, creating strategies or developing talents. To make decisions, humans will continue to ‘give 10 to 0′”, he states.

Brito assesses that AI “will continue to improve”, but that “human beings will continue to be important” in this context.

Clash of generations

With a successful history in large companies, such as Shell and AB Inbev, Carlos Brito believes that the current generation really behaves differently from previous ones and, without a doubt, “is the one with the most access to information.”

However, he considers that “there are things that are true in any generation. Consumer values, for example, are similar; we are more similar than we realize, and what really matters is stability.”

Brito admits that he can no longer make people go to the office five days a week, but still argues that “people lose a lot without face-to-face interaction”.

Carlos Brito participated in the fourth edition of the MBA Brasil Conference. This year, 300 Brazilian students were present at the MIT Media Lab, in Boston, United States, where they attended lectures on topics such as artificial intelligence, market transformations, sustainability, digital transformation, among others.
