SÃO PAULO (Reuters) – Ambev () announced this Monday (10) the launch of a fiber version of Guaraná Antarctica Zero and a new protein recipe for the Fusion energy drink.

With the new version of the traditional soft drink, the company intends to attract consumers looking for functional ingredients.

“These are launches that arrive to meet the desires of a public increasingly accustomed to including more balanced products in their daily lives”, said the Director of Marketing for Non-Alcoholic Beverages at Ambev, Bianca Parrella, in a statement sent to the press.

According to a survey carried out by the market intelligence agency Mintel, cited in the Ambev statement, 57% of Brazilians who seek to follow healthy eating habits are interested in options that are good for digestive health. Regarding choices, 75% of consumers say they are guided by the desire for good nutrition.

In this context, in the third quarter, sugar-free drinks maintained a strong trajectory at the company, with the sales volume of Guaraná Antarctica Zero growing by more than 30% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data released by the company.

On the 30th, Ambev reported net profit of R$4.86 billion in the third quarter, an increase of 36.4% over the performance of a year before.

Initially, the new guaraná with fibers will be sold exclusively on the Zé Delivery platform in the cities of São Paulo, Sorocaba and São José dos Campos. In a second phase, it will be sold in Campinas and other cities.

The new protein recipe for the Fusion energy drink hits the market in a few weeks, aiming to increase demand for drinks of this type in the country. Data from the Mintel survey showed that 53% of Brazilians who seek to follow healthy eating habits look for options that promote energy.
