According to the report, the GNR corporal from Mirandela is suspected of pressuring drivers to pay fines in cash, in order to keep the money.
One of the victims told the morning newspaper that the GNR fined him in an urban area under the responsibility of the PSP and the took him to an ATM to withdraw the money.
“He fined me 500 euros, seized my letter and immediately said I had to pay in cash,” he revealed. Eugenio Manuel.
“I told him I didn’t have that money with me, I only had an ATM card, but He replied that it couldn’t be and he had to go and withdraw it from an ATM.“, he reported.
“He took me in the GNR jeep to the ATM. But as the machine only allowed me to withdraw 400 euros, it told me that I had to give it the remaining one hundred euros the next day,” he continued.
“The next day, when I arrived, he was already waiting for me. We went to an office, I handed him the hundred euros and he gave me a piece of paper”, he detailed to JN.
According to the PJ, the 45-year-old defendant is suspected of having “falsified several administrative offense records, appropriating amounts corresponding to fines paid by the offenders”.
The soldier is “strongly indicted” for crimes of embezzlement, document forgery and computer forgery.
According to JN, suspicions about the actions of this GNR began with a complaint from a driver, at a time when the soldier was still working in Vila Flor.
