O President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defended, this Monday (10), a kind of “road map” with strategies to achieve economic independence from fossil fuels. Repeating the traditional diplomatic speech, he once again defended a “fair and planned” transition to overcome dependence on oil and oil products.

The speech suggests that any path in this direction will be in the long term, and in the short term Brazil and other countries will continue to depend on these inputs.

“I hope that the serenity of the forest inspires in all of us the clarity of thought necessary to see what needs to be done”, declared Lula at the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change.

Lula also commented on the TFFF (Tropical Forests Forever Fund) – for tropical forests in several countries. The president highlighted that the mechanism raised around US$5.5 billion in a single day.
