In an emotional moment, the heir to the British throne was moved to receive a rare photo of his mother, Princess Dianataken during his visit to the country in 1991.
The photograph showed Diana in Casa Foundation, in São Pauloholding an HIV-positive child in her arms, a symbolic gesture that helped, at the time, break the stigma around HIV.
When he saw the image, he was visibly touched. “What year was this?” he asked. “It was in 1991”, he replied. With teary eyes, the prince replied: “What a beautiful thing.”
