The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Sunday (9) that he will distribute US$2,000 (R$10,600) to Americans – except those with high incomes – with the money collected from the tariff.
In a post on the social network Social Truth, the Republican called critics of the rates “fools” and stated that the US is now “the richest and most respected country in the world, with almost no inflation and a record stock market.”
“We are raising trillions of dollars and will soon begin paying down our HUGE $37 trillion DEBT. Record investment in the USA, with factories and plants being built across the country. A dividend of at least $2,000 per person (not including high-income earners!) will be paid to everyone,” Trump wrote.
Import tariffs on dozens of allies were announced by Trump in recent months. The US government imposed 50% barriers against Brazilian products, as announced on August 6.
