Vienna – The former chairman of the Vienna ÖVP, Karl Mahrer, is resigning from the local council and state parliament. The 70-year-old is resigning from his mandate as of today, Monday. He announced this via broadcast. The timing, he emphasized, was chosen deliberately – since he entered politics eight years ago on November 9th. The former police officer and member of the National Council resigned as party leader after the Vienna elections in the spring.
