Deputies from the Parliamentary Agricultural Front (FPA) are working to include in the text of the anti-faction bill, authored by the president’s government, an excerpt to characterize the Landless Rural Workers Movement () as a criminal organization. The president of the FPA, (Republicanos-PR), had already presented an amendment on Tuesday (11), which prohibits the State from offering protection to groups “involved in committing crimes against private or public properties”.

This Wednesday (12), after the presentation of the latest report by (PP-SP), Lúcio Mosquini (MDB-RO) presented another amendment that includes an article in the Criminal Organizations Law, which would classify as such groups that “have as their purpose the invasion of rural properties, the degradation of environmental preservation areas, the destruction of native vegetation, the practice of extortion against rural owners or any related crimes”.

“Such conduct, although often disguised as political or social acts, constitutes true organized criminal actions, with a hierarchical structure, division of tasks and own financing”, explained Mosquini. This amendment has the support of 23 other deputies – including the leader of the PL, (RJ), and the leader of the Republicans, (MG). The Republicans are the party of the president of the Chamber, (PB). Mosquini is responsible for the FPA’s rural debt committee.

In the new text presented, Derrite retreated and removed proposed changes to the anti-terrorism law and sections that could alter the powers of the Federal Police in response to government criticism. The prediction is that the Chamber will vote this Wednesday, 12th, on the anti-faction project.
