Bishop says he asked for Messiah in the STF on a visit to Lula – 11/11/2025 – Power

Bishop Samuel Ferreira, of the Assembly of God in Brás, declared this Tuesday (11) that he had asked President Lula (PT) to consider the appointment of the Attorney General of the Union, as minister of the (Supreme Federal Court).

Ferreira visited Lula at Palácio do Planalto on October 16th, alongside . Messias himself also participated in the meeting, seen as the name considered by the PT member to occupy the seat left by Luis Roberto Barroso, who retired last month.

“I went to intercede for a brother who is a believer in the Baptist Church”, said Ferreira in an interview with the Debate Mais program, on the Christian channel Also Pensa, on YouTube. “And who could be the next minister of the Federal Supreme Court,” he added.

According to Ferreira, he told Lula that “the evangelical community welcomes the appointment of Messiah to the position of minister of the STF” and noted that, if he is chosen, he will remain in the post for the next 30 years – Messias is 45 years old and the age to retire from the court is 75 years old.

Messias played an important role as an interlocutor between the Lula government and the segment, which is more closely linked to the former president ().

Deacon of a congregation in Brasília, he often uses his speeches and social media to comment on how the Bible influences his views on the world.

As shown by Sheetin the federal government since the former Minister of Justice took up a seat on the STF, in February last year.

Lula’s preference has provoked criticism due to the fact that, once again, the president chose a man, not a woman, for the post. The court has 11 ministers, ten men and only one woman – minister Cármen Lúcia.

Survey of Sheet shows that, if Messiah is chosen, the Supreme Court will follow with a majority of male ministers. The data was used by a prosecutor from the TCU (Federal Audit Court) to request new male appointments while there are not the same number of men and women in the court.

Despite the visit, Ferreira emphasized during the program that he is not a PT member and said that he participated in the meeting to “hold a hand against the church”. In addition to interceding for Messiah, he listed three other reasons for the meeting with Lula:

“I went to the president, one, to pray for him. Two, to tell him that the evangelical church is a church of pacification. Three, to thank him because, this year, he sanctioned a law that makes it clear that the minister is not entitled to labor rights,” he said.
