In reference to Blue November, a global awareness campaign about men’s health, Cruzeiro do Sul City Hall, through the Municipal Health Department, is holding this Saturday, the 15th, the Blue Walk, with the theme “Men who take care of themselves, live better”. The gathering will be at 5:30 am, in Igarapé Preto, and participants will head towards Deracre via Ac 405. The event will bring together employees, athletes, community groups and the general population.
The action aims to encourage the early diagnosis of diseases that affect men, especially prostate cancer, in addition to reinforcing the importance of healthy habits and comprehensive care for the body and mind.
The municipal secretary of Health, Marcelo Siqueira, highlighted the relevance of the mobilization.
“The walk alluding to men’s health is part of a joint action with the Friends of Health project, which seeks to promote sports practices for people of all ages. In addition to exercise, it is a time to celebrate life and reflect on the importance of taking care of your health. Although November is the highlight month, we reinforce that men’s health must be a priority every day”, he stated.
The initiative has the support of the Municipal Department of Transport, Traffic and Urban Mobility and the group Amigos da Saúde, known for its voluntary work in actions to promote health and encourage physical activity in the municipality.
The technical advisor for Health and leader of the Friends of Health group, Lindomar Ferreira, explained that the walk will be accessible to everyone and will include breakfast at the starting point.
“The meeting point will be at Igarapé Preto, at 5:30 am, where we will also have breakfast and speeches alluding to Blue November. The route is free: anyone who wants can go to DERACRE, totaling 10 kilometers, or return earlier, depending on their disposition. The important thing is to participate and remember that men need to take care of themselves. Statistics show that men live, on average, seven years less than women, precisely because they seek health services less. This walk is a invitation to change this reality”, he highlighted.
