Does the ficus lose its leaves in November? It's not the fault of poor watering at all

How to recognize? Bad growing conditions are indicated by wrinkling and yellowing leaves that fall off over time. This is when many people start watering or fertilizing it more often, which we consider a mistake. November is a perfect time to change the plant’s position. It costs nothing and may save the specimen.

November sees the greatest temperature fluctuations. During the day, the sun heats the rooms, so in the evening we open the windows to ventilate the apartment. At night, the cold comes into the rooms, so we turn up the heaters.

Such sudden changes in temperature cause ficus leaves to turn yellow and fall. We are talking especially about those from the lower parts. The worst thing we can do is put the plant on a windowsill with an open window or right next to the balcony door. It only takes a moment for it to start losing its leaves.

A specimen touching cold glass also loses its condition due to thermal shock. In turn, heating weakens it further.

In addition, there are the mentioned care errors, i.e. more frequent watering and fertilization. This may lead to overwatering the specimen and disturbing its natural rest, which also promotes leaf fall.

We will save a ficus with falling leaves if we change its position. Let’s move it to a place with diffused light, where the temperature is between 18-22 degrees Celsius.

We place this plant away from windows, doors or radiators. There must be no drafts in a given position.

Another important factor in saving a dying specimen is proper watering. In the autumn and winter we do it less often – the soil must be slightly moist, we cannot get it wet.

During this time, you should refrain from fertilizing. In autumn and winter, the plant is dormant and does not need any stimulation to grow.

Additionally, we also recommend regular collection of falling leaves from the pot. Otherwise they will start to rot at the base. Those that remain on the tree should be wiped with a damp cloth. The ficus cannot be dusty, because then it becomes harder for it to “breathe”.

With all these changes, the specimen will surely come back to life. If we ignore this problem, by February the plant will remain a bare stick without leaves, disfiguring the apartment.
