Hungarian pensioners will have their pensions increased by an average of 132 euros

The Hungarian government plans to further increase pensions by 3.6% starting next year. Prime Minister Orbán promised to introduce the 14th monthly pension in the next period.

The Hungarian government is sticking to its pension commitments. Starting today, every pensioner will receive an additional increase in their pension for this year by an average of 51,000 forints (132 euros). Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced this on Facebook on Wednesday. The Prime Minister added that they will also gradually introduce a 14th monthly pension, while this process will begin next year, informs the TASR reporter in Budapest.

According to Orbán’s contribution, the government committed itself after 2010 to always maintain the value of pensions and will continue to do so in 2025. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM) Róbert Zsigó emphasized in a video published on Facebook that the government guarantees an increase in pensions in line with inflation this year as well, so in November pensions will be adjusted according to the actual annual inflation.

“We will supplement the increase based on the inflation forecast from the beginning of the year. And that’s not all, pensioners can look forward to further increases in the coming months,” added Zsigó, adding that the supplemented pension will arrive in December. According to him, the new 3.6 percent increase will apply from the beginning of next year, and pensioners will receive their 13th monthly pension in February.
