The Lisbon Court of Appeal guarantees that it has no pending appeal that is delaying the investigation into Operation Influencer, thus disproving the PGR.
Amadeu Guerra He has been Attorney General of the Republic since October 2024. When he took office, he promised speedy completion of Operation Influencer, which began in November 2023. Something that does not seem to be happening.
Recently, the PGR justified the delay in concluding the process with “an appeal filed by the defendants” related to emails that was still “being assessed” at the Lisbon Court of Appeal. However, this court denied the PGR.
To , the Lisbon Court of Appeal denies that it is considering any appeal from the operation’s defendants: “At the moment, no appeal related to Operation Influencer is pending at the Lisbon Court of Appeal.”
Amadeu Guerra had said that there was an “appeal filed by the defendants regarding electronic mail”, with the Public Prosecutor’s Office dependent on “the appeal in the Court of Appeal, which is being assessed”.
“E-mail was seized during the process, the defendants filed an appeal. Until we have access to the information contained in the emails, we cannot move forward”, he added, quoted by the weekly.
According to sources from the same newspaper, there was, indeed, an appeal by the defendant Rui Oliveira Neves which was decided “about two months ago”. As the weekly writes, this Start Campus administrator had tried to prevent access to the emails that were seized from him.
