The minister André Mendonçado TSE (Superior Electoral Court)voted this Tuesday (11) to revoke the mandate of the governor of Roraima, Antonio Denarium (PP), and the vice-governor, Edilson Damião (Republicans).

The trial, however, was interrupted again after a request from the minister Nunes Brands. As a result, the analysis of the case is suspended for up to 30 days.

With Mendonça’s vote, the Electoral Court now has two votes to revoke the mandates of the governor and vice-governor of Roraima.

In the plenary, the minister argued that Denarium’s management committed an electoral crime by creating two social programs in an election year, a situation prohibited by legislation.

Denarium and vice Damião were convicted by the TRE-RR (Regional Electoral Court of Roraima) for the crimes of abuse of political and economic power in the 2022 elections.

The Regional Court also declared Denarium ineligible and ordered new elections for the Roraima government.

At the TSE, reporting minister Isabel Gallotti voted to maintain the conviction of the governor and deputy, as well as other penalties. According to the rapporteur, the electoral use of public resources by the governor was proven.

The minister also highlighted that the electorate of Roraima is a small state and vulnerable to the actions of the public machine.

The TSE is made up of seven ministers and, to confirm the impeachment, a simple majority of votes is needed, that is, four.
