Group of 50 people linked to Psol attempted to enter the Blue Zone without authorization and were contained by security

A group of around 50 people tried to enter the COP 30 Blue Zone at 7:20 pm. The group is made up of people from the Juntos collective. They are also members of Psol. The t-shirts had the party’s inscription.

The Blue Zone is the area where diplomatic negotiations for COP30 (30th United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change) take place. There are also country pavilions.

Fred Almeida, 26 years old, stated that the group entered the restricted area around the Blue Zone. When he tried to enter the building, he was blocked and surrounded by security. “They took my cell phone and a Palestinian flag”, these.

Almeida said no one was seriously injured. “I hope the UN understands that we made a peaceful demonstration and returns what is ours”, these.

The Juntos collective is against the forestry fund proposed by the Brazilian government to finance the preservation of the Amazon. “Our forests are not for sale”, says a sign that Almeida was holding.

Almeida identifies as her. She has a degree in anthropology from UnB (University of Brasília).

The protest caused the main access to COP30 to be closed. Participants who left the venue on time had to use side access. Inside the Blue Zone, there were diversions so that people would not get close to the site of the conflict.
