Nearly 1/3 of the Brazilian population evaluates national content as inferior to international contentaccording to a survey carried out by the Ministries of Culture. About 58% of respondents consume more foreign productions. The ministry, however, sees the result as positive.
“This is extremely positive data, especially when we consider the current scenario of streaming platforms, where national content represents a very small portion of the available catalogue, around just 5%. It is surprising that, even with such a restricted offer, the evaluation is mostly positive”, stated the executive secretary, .
“We believe that, if there were more investment from platforms and more Brazilian works available in these services, this perception would be even better”, he added.
34% of Brazilians believe that the quality of national content is similar to that of foreign content. While only 16% of respondents consider Brazilian content superior.
