Tebet: US$ 1 billion will be allocated to cities in the Amazon region

The Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebetdetailed this Tuesday (11) that it will be destined US$1 billion in financing for cities of countries amazon with favorable conditions and high needs.

The project is from Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and, in practice, it will be allocated to the so-called resilience of city infrastructure and water security, for example.

The minister said that the proposal arose from conversations about the need for a specific program medium and long term, considering the Amazonian countries, in negotiations carried out between the technical team of the BID and the Ministry of Planning and Budget (MPO).

“These are subsidies, donations, financing, most of it is financing, so that governors and mayors can receive donations or finance the bioeconomy, the green economy, urban mobility with energy transition, solve the sanitation problem, qualify and strengthen green economy cooperatives”, said Tebet in a conversation with journalists on the second day of the COP30em Belém (PA).
