Products contained vegetable oils from other species in their composition, characterizing fraud and unsuitable for consumption
The and the (National Health Surveillance Agency) have already banned the total or partial sale of 25 brands of olive oil in 2025. On Wednesday (12.Nov.2025), batches of the brands Royal, Godio, La Vitta and Santa Lucia joined the list of vetoed products.
Laboratory analyzes identified the presence of vegetable oils from other species in the composition of the products, characterizing fraud and making them unfit for consumption. The inspection took place in commercial establishments and distribution points throughout Brazil.
Among the main reasons for bans are adulteration, falsification and the presence of other vegetable oils in the composition of olive oils.
The federal government also identified cases of import and distribution carried out by companies without CNPJ in Brazil, facilities inadequate to meet health requirements, irregular labeling and lack of licensing.
Affected brands include:
- Alcobaça;
- Oil press;
- Alonso;
- Azapa;
- Campo Ourique;
- Casa do Azeite;
- Viana Castle;
- At home;
- Escarpa das Oliveiras;
- Coding;
- Grego Santorini;
- The Sucker;
- La Vitta;
- The Nobles;
- Málaga;
- Black Gold;
- Quintas D’Oliveira;
- Royal;
- Saint Martin;
- Saint Lucia;
- Serrano;
- Terra de Olivos;
- Terrasa;
- Vale dos Vinhedos;
- Villa Gloria.
The Ministry of Agriculture reported that the sale of these fraudulent olive oils constitutes a serious offense, and establishments may be held responsible. Some brands received a total ban, while others only had specific batches banned.
Consumers who purchased prohibited products must stop consumption immediately and request a replacement, in accordance with the Consumer Protection Code. Complaints about the sale of these products can be registered on the official channel.
To avoid buying fraudulent olive oil, the Ministry of Agriculture recommends being wary of very low prices and not buying olive oil sold in bulk. Consumers can check whether the product is on Anvisa’s list of counterfeit products by consulting the brand name in the “Product” field provided by the agency.
