Package of projects, which puts an end to the longest strike in the country’s history, goes to President Donald Trump for sanction, who is expected to sign it this Wednesday (Nov 12)

The United States House of Representatives approved this Wednesday (12.Nov.2025) the closure of the longest (shutdown) of the country’s history. The package of projects, which restores air traffic, resumes the payment of salaries to federal employees and guarantees the financing of food assistance programs, was approved in a close vote, by 222 votes to 209.

The text had already been passed by the US Senate on Monday (Nov 10), by 60 votes to 40, and now goes to President Donald Trump (Republican Party) for sanction, who is expected to sign it this evening.

6 Democrats broke with the party and voted to end the shutdown: Adam Gray (California), Marie Gluesenkemp Perez (Washington), Jared Golden (Maine), Henry Cuellar (Texas), Tom Suozzi (New York) and Don Davis (North Carolina). Only 2 Republicans vote against: Thomas Massie (Kentucky) and Greg Steube (Florida).

The measure ends 43 days of strike, which left hundreds of thousands of public employees without pay, affected the operation of airports and put the distribution of food benefits to millions of Americans at risk. With approval, the government will be reopened and retroactive payment to employees must be guaranteed.
