This is the third phase of Operation Fake Agents, which investigates improper withdrawals from the Service Time Guarantee Fund of football players, former players and coaches.
The (PF) launched, this Thursday (13), in , the third phase of Operation Fake Agents, which investigates a scheme involving the improper withdrawal of the Service Time Guarantee Fund (FGTS) of football players, former players and coaches. The investigation shows that the scheme diverted approximately R$7 million.
Agents carried out four search and seizure warrants at three addresses linked to Caixa Econômica Federal employees and at a state agency in the center of the capital of Rio. Cell phones, computers and documents from those investigated were seized.
According to the PF, the scheme had the direct involvement of a lawyer responsible for articulating the fraudulent operations with contacts within the bank. Joana Costa Prado had her OAB license suspended.
Among the victims identified are well-known names in Brazilian and international football: Ramires (ex-Palmeiras and Chelsea), Alejandro Donatti (ex-Flamengo), Titi (defender ex-Inter and Vasco), Raniel (ex-Santos and Vasco), Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal and ex-Palmeiras), Obina (ex-Flamengo and Palmeiras), Cueva (ex-São Paulo), João Rojas (ex-São Paulo) and Paulo Roberto Falcon.
The investigation began after a private bank reported a suspicious transaction to the PF: an account opened with false documents in the name of a player, which ended up being used to improperly receive amounts released by Caixa. In this case alone, the estimated loss is R$2.2 million. The player in question is Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero, formerly of Corinthians, Flamengo and Internacional.
According to the Federal Police, those being investigated may be held liable for forgery of public documents, embezzlement and criminal association, in addition to other crimes that may be discovered during the investigations. The operation was supported by Caixa’s intelligence and security area.
