The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), postponed, until Tuesday (18), the analysis of the Legal Framework for Combating Organized Crime in plenary, as a single agenda.
The announcement took place during the session this Wednesday (12). Motta made the decision after publishing a fourth version of the report.
“We will have a single agenda next week, next Tuesday, so that the House can have a broad discussion and vote on this matter that is so important for our country.”, Hugo Motta said to the deputies in the plenary.
Among other changes, the new version of Derrite’s report provides for the allocation of assets seized in operations to the Fund for the Equipment and Operationalization of the Federal Police’s Core Activities (Funapol). The changes come after a complaint from the government, but members of the Ministry of Justice heard by the CNN still consider change insufficient.
In recent days, the matter has been the subject of debate in the Chamber of Deputies, since both the choice of rapporteur and the details included in the substitute displeased government officials. Derrite’s text led to accusations of trying to harm national sovereignty and weaken the PF (Federal Police).
This Wednesday, governors linked to the right asked for more time to discuss the project. The group requested the possibility of postponing the vote on the project for 30 days.
Governors Claudio Castro (PL), Jorginho Mello (Santa Catarina-PL), Ronaldo Caiado (Goiás-União) and Celina Leão (Distrito Federal-Progressistas) were in the Chamber.
