During the press conference for the new HBO series, “”, this Tuesday (11/11), in São Paulo, actress Camila Márdila highlighted the strong emotional impact of participating in the work. According to her, the production based on real facts about the murder of the socialite should generate debate. THE LeoDias portal was present at the event.

In the plot, Camila plays Lulu Prado, one of Ângela’s closest friends, a character played by Marjorie Estiano. The series, directed by Andrucha Waddington and Rebeca Diniz, revisits one of the most emblematic crimes in Brazilian history, which exposed the structural machismo of the time and was once again debated from new perspectives.

“While we were making the series, I felt a lot, in choosing Marjorie, Andrucha and Rebeca, everything that was in me building this, playing this personality, this particularity of Angela that bothers”, declared Camila.

The actress highlighted that the discomfort caused by Angela’s figure is not restricted to a specific gender: “The truth is that both men and women are uncomfortable with a woman enjoying this freedom, this desire, supporting her desires and speaking out”, she stated.

According to her, the series invites the public to reflect on this discomfort and on the way society reacts to women who break standards. “There’s a very beautiful line in the series, when Angela says: ‘Life can’t be just that’. She wants to expand, but we’re not very prepared for that. I think it’s a series that will divide opinions and highlight this flaw”, he added.

“Ângela Diniz: Murdered and Convicted” promises to revisit the case with a contemporary look at feminicide and the construction of female freedom, themes that, as Camila Márdila highlighted, still arouse resistance and discussion today.
