It's over: Congress ends the longest government shutdown in US history

The United States Congress this Wednesday ended the longest government shutdown in the country’s history. After 43 days, the US House of Representatives has approved the agreement that ends a blockade, derived from the clash between Republicans and Democrats, which has forced the stoppage or left millions of people without.

The legislative package that was approved tonight was already in place and will allow for reactivating the payment of subsidies, paying back salaries to thousands of public employees and normalizing the air traffic control system.

The White House has confirmed that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will sign the law later in the day, which will officially close this institutional crisis.
