During the broadcast of the program Fim de Papo, on TV UOL, on Wednesday (12), journalist Juca Kfouri made a sexist comment and was reprimanded by his colleague Domitila Becker after showing an excerpt from an interview with influencer Virgínia Fonseca, in which she talked about her relationship with Vini Jr.
When the excerpt was broadcast, Juca Kfouri said: “I’m going to lose my friend and I won’t miss the joke. [entrevista sobre fofoca de famosos] It’s a woman’s thing, it’s not a man’s thing.” The statement did not please Domitila, who reacted immediately and corrected the commentator live.
The episode quickly had repercussions on social media, generating debate about the sexism still present in sports journalism. The joking tone used by Juca ended up being interpreted as a way of reinforcing gender stereotypes about what would be a “woman’s issue” or a “man’s issue”.
The program, which also featured the participation of Danilo Lavieri, showed a report on the Galácticos charity auction, organized by Ronaldo Fenômeno and Celina Locks. It was in this context that Juca’s comment happened.

The context of the interview and Kfouri’s speech
In the interview, when approached, Virgínia Fonseca spoke about her relationship with Vini Jr., Real Madrid striker, and highlighted the good moment of the relationship, denying rumors of a crisis. The video was shown for discussion on the program, but ended up diverting the focus because of Juca’s speech.
Then, the journalist said: “Danilo, do you want to see what it’s like to lose your friend, but not lose the joke? This agenda is for Domi, for Milly or for Luísa, understand? This is an agenda for a female reporter, never for a male reporter. They will do much better than you.”
The phrase soon provoked a reaction from Domitila, who immediately expressed discomfort. The only woman present on the bench, the journalist responded firmly and directly. “Juca, I admire you a lot, but I can’t let this one go, man. I thought your joke was really bad. It’s because of sexist jokes like this that we see so many feminicides, so much prejudice and machismo”, said the journalist.
While Juca tried to interrupt her, Domitila continued arguing. “Unlike some of our colleagues, I’m not going to complain about you to the boss, because I would never do that. And since you made the joke live, I feel entitled to end this program by saying that I felt uncomfortable and it’s not the first time this has happened.”
— I know you are an ally in our daily struggle here for women in football, in sports journalism. So, I would like to continue counting on you on our side — he concluded.
