The EU attorney general clears the way for Puigdemont’s amnesty, but raises objections to certain provisions of the Amnesty Law | Spain

The lawyer of the Court of Justice of the European Union supports that the amnesty can be applied to accounting liability, according to his report published this Thursday.

The attorney general, however, concludes that some provisions of the Amnesty Law, such as the fact that a maximum period of two months is granted to find out if the expenses affect the interests of the European Union, or that only the Prosecutor’s Office or public administrations can appeal against the archiving of the proceedings, but not popular accusations, would violate community legislation.

In the other procedure, relating to the 12 independentists from the Defense Committees of the Republic accused of terrorism, the Advocate General concludes that amnesty for them does not violate European legislation.
