German police detained another suspect linked to Hamas. In August, he brokered the delivery of weapons and ammunition that could be used for attacks.
German police detained another suspect in connection with the Palestinian militant movement Hamas on a train heading to the city of Flensburg. TASR informs about it based on a report on the portal of the newspaper Bild.
In the case of the suspect, it is Mahmúd Z., born in Lebanon. He was detained while trying to cross the Danish-German border.
Arms trading
According to the investigators, Mahmud Z. was a middleman in Hamas arms deals. In August, he allegedly bought an assault rifle, eight pistols and more than 600 rounds of ammunition from a recently arrested person in the federal state of Hesse, which he then transported to Berlin. There, he handed them over to another suspect, who was arrested on October 1.
The weapons were apparently intended for Hamas’ planned assassinations of Israeli or Jewish institutions in Germany and Europe, writes Bild.
The judge will decide on custody
The most recently detained Lebanese suspect will appear before the investigating judge who will decide on his detention on Friday, November 14.
