Apparently they were homeless people who entered Dutch homes. But after all it was a joke for TikTok.
The videos began to spread: a burglar, apparently a homeless person, who entered the house to try to steal.
When people saw the images, obviously their first reaction was to call the police. Dozens of calls reached the Dutch police.
In two of the cases, the police even took a helicopter to the area where a crime would be taking place.
But it was all… a match. In other times it could be for those caught. Now it was a joke for the TikTok.
There was no thief, there was no theft. People were receiving videos generated by artificial intelligence.
Police officer Frans Luijten (himself a figure on TikTok) published a video addressing the subject: “Playing pranks is a lot of fun, but don’t let it get out of control”, quotes .
Authorities warned of the obvious: the videos may seem harmless, as they are “just a joke” – but all these false alarms divert valuable resources that would otherwise be used in real emergencies.
The police ask the pais so that they can talk to their children about the consequences of the irresponsible use of artificial intelligence.
Dutch authorities also warned deliberately creating false alarms could lead to criminal charges.
