US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that US President Donald Trump should only agree to a new meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin if there is a real chance of ending the conflict in Eastern Europe, in comments to reporters after the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in Canada.
“There was agreement on both sides that the next time the presidents meet there needs to be a concrete outcome – we need to know in advance that we have a real chance of getting something positive,” he mentioned.
Rubio also alleged that part of Moscow’s strategy in the war is to “undermine the morale and will to fight within” Ukraine, and so the Americans have been discussing defensive weapons with Kiev.
