Bolsonaro: Moraes authorizes visits by Castro and Tarcísio – 11/13/2025 – Brasília Hoje

The minister, of the (Supreme Federal Court), authorized this Thursday (13) the visit to the former president (PL) of the governors (Rio), (Goiás) and (São Paulo).

The federal deputy and licensed secretary of Public Security of São Paulo, (PP-SP), also received approval from Moraes to meet with the former president while under house arrest.

The decision responds to requests from 13 politicians and Bolsonaro’s allies to meet the former president on the eve of the end of his trial for the coup plot — and, as a result, the beginning of his prison sentence.

With the authorizations, Bolsonaro has an agenda scheduled until December 11th. The main visits and their respective dates are as follows:

  • Governor Cláudio Castro (PL), on November 26
  • Federal deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP-SP), on December 1st
  • Governor Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), on December 9
  • Governor Tarcísio Freitas (Republicans), on December 10

The visits were authorized while the right-wing governors and Derrite are involved in the discussion, in Congress, of the anti-faction PL, which seeks to toughen penalties for crimes committed by members of criminal organizations.

The proposal was scheduled to be voted on last Wednesday (12), but ended up being postponed due to resistance from government and opposition members to the latest versions presented by rapporteur Derrite.

The paternity of the bill has been the subject of disputes between the government and the opposition, given the political gains that the approval of a proposal on public security can yield for those involved.

Former president Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced by the Supreme Court to 27 years and three months in prison for leading the coup plot that unfolded at the end of 2022, after his electoral defeat to Lula (PT).

The expectation in the STF is that the sentence will be executed later this year, after the rejection of the appeals presented by the defenses of the convicted men. Moraes is already evaluating where Bolsonaro should serve his sentence, with the Papuda Penitentiary Complex being one of the likely places of custody for the former president.
