Police officers from the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic) of the State Civil Police carried out an action, this Thursday (13), to dismantle a gang specialized in invading properties and committing violent crimes in São Paulo. In addition to arresting a couple suspected of being part of the gang, the team also found, among the equipment used in the robberies, ‘a war arsenal’.

Three war rifles were seized that were inside a trunk bed, one of which was used to shoot down tanks and aircraft. “Among the materials are war weapons, a .50 rifle, used to shoot down aircraft and against tanks, and two 5.56 rifles. Also two armored SUVs, to protect themselves from possible vehicle pursuits”, said Deic. Projectiles and ammunition were also collected.

Surveys indicate that the gathering of weapons and vehicles at the site was related to planning a major action in the coming days. The police action took place in Campo Limpo, south of the city. According to the Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo, after identifying the residence used for meetings and planning the crimes, police officers from the 4th Precinct of the Investigations Division on Crimes against Property (Disccpat) began monitoring the location.

According to the SSP, the woman had the role of guard and weapons watcher, while the man produced false documents. “During the campaign, a woman left the property and was approached. Upon entering the residence, the agents identified that the place was used as a warehouse for weapons used in the robberies, under the responsibility of the accused”, said the SSP.

Also according to the ministry, during the operation, another suspect arrived at the scene by car and was approached. He carried in his wallet a false document with the photograph of the woman detained in the property. “The couple, the woman aged 38 and the man aged 42, already had police records for murder, attempted murder and burglary of a residence. They were taken to the 4th Disccpat Police Station, in Deic, where they remained at the disposal of the Justice Department”, stated the SSP.

The case was registered as criminal association, use of a false document, illegal possession or carrying of a firearm, reception, tampering with a motor vehicle identification sign and forgery of a public document.
