An explosion followed by a fire in a house in the Tatuapé neighborhood, in the east zone of São Paulo, left one person dead and 10 injured. The incident was recorded around 7:50 pm on Thursday (13.Nov.2025).
According to the (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat), the residence where the explosion occurred housed an irregular warehouse of fireworks. Agents from the (Military Police), and the (Mobile Emergency Care Service) were called to the scene.
A informed, in a note, that the property, located at Rua Francisco Bueno, nº 79, was completely destroyed. The explosion also hit neighboring properties, knocked down metal structures and caused damage to several vehicles parked in the region.
Civil Defense ordered the closure of 21 properties in the neighborhood. “The Municipal Protection and Civil Defense Coordination was called and found extensive property damage, affecting several commercial and residential properties and vehicles”he stated. The affected residents were sheltered by family members.
Also according to the SSP-SP, a charred body was found among the rubble of the residence and was sent to the IML (Legal Medical Institute). “The victim, a man, was suspected of illegally storing explosive devices inside the property”informed the Secretariat in a note.
In total, 10 people received treatment, including the owner of the property, who suffered head injuries and was taken to the Nipo-Brasileiro hospital, along with her son, who had minor injuries. Other victims were rescued in nearby health units or treated on site by emergency teams.
In images circulating on social media, recorded from nearby apartments, it is possible to see a huge column of smoke at the site of the explosion.
Users reported hearing the bang from their homes and feeling the ground shake. Others, via video, documented the destruction of vehicles from Salim Farah Maluf Avenue, an important thoroughfare in the east zone of São Paulo. A section of the avenue was temporarily closed to ensure the safety of the teams working.
The Civil Police opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the explosion.
