Guilherme Muraro Derrite was born in Sorocaba, on October 10, 1984. Known as Captain Derrite, he is a reserve PM. He joined the Military Police in 2007 and has a degree in law and police science and public security.
His military career includes being a lieutenant in the Rota (Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar), the elite troop of the São Paulo Military Police. Derrite commanded patrols in this unit between 2010 and 2013
In 2014, he migrated to the Fire Department, which is part of the PM. Derrite achieved the rank of captain after being transferred to the corporation’s reserves.
His dismissal from the Rota staff occurred due to the large number of clashes and people killed on duty, which was admitted by Derrite himself. He said he had “a lot of exchanges of fire”
In an audio from 2015, which earned him punishment, he even said it was “shameful” for a police officer not to have at least three deaths of suspects in five years of work. He later acknowledged that this line was a “mistake”
Derrite launched himself into politics in 2018, being elected federal deputy in the wave that brought Jair Bolsonaro to power. He is an unconditional Bolsonaro supporter, ally of the former president’s family, and defender of hard-line policies
He was elected federal deputy in 2018 (for the PP) and re-elected in 2022 (for the PL). Derrite took leave from his parliamentary position to take over the Public Security Secretariat of São Paulo under the management of Tarcísio de Freitas
Experts in the field criticized the appointment for his lack of management experience and for having been a junior officer (lieutenant), since the secretary commands colonels and the entire Civil Police
At first, Derrite and Tarcísio were against the use of cameras on PM uniforms, but he backed down after taking office. After learning about the data, he stated that the cameras showed “a lot of good things”
At the beginning of November 2025, he was dismissed from his position as secretary to return to the Chamber of Deputies and assume the role of rapporteur for the Antifaction PL, which amends the Anti-Terrorism Law, expanding the definition of terrorism and toughening penalties.
