US President Donald Trump signs agreement that ends the government shutdown
The US government returns to operation after the signature of the president, who left some questionable “messages”, to say the least.
Practically a month and a half later, the US federal government is back in operation this Thursday.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, signed the proposed law approved by Congress that puts an end to the 43-day closure of government administrative activity, the longest in the country’s history.
At the document ceremony, Trump left some messages, especially for the Democratic Party.
While thanking the senators Democrats who changed their minds and voted alongside the Republicans, assured that he will not allow another “extortion”.
Donald Trump referred to his theory: representatives of the rival Democratic Party were largely responsible for this strike, for this difficulty in reaching an agreement because, they claim, they had a demand on Health to illegal immigrants.
José Gomes André sees this speech as (yet another) “attempt to control the political narrative”.
“We live in a time where discussion very rarely has to do with rational and objective analysis. who has political responsibilities – has to do with the construction of a story”, recalls the commentator on .
Trump, In this respect, it is in fact “a teacher”, describes.
“It conveys a conviction that the Democrats were directly responsible (for the strike) because they insisted on the importance of having part of a budget package to protect illegal immigrants, particularly in the area of Health”.
In fact, back in September, Donald Trump wrote in: “The Democrats want illegal immigrantsmany of them violent criminals, receive free medical assistance”.
I already had denial the president of the USA. What Democrats demanded was to maintain more generous federal subsidies to help Americans bear the costs of Obamacare health plans; and to reverse deep cuts to Medicaid and other health programs included in Trump’s sweeping domestic policy package. No proposal would guarantee health coverage to illegal immigrants – because these immigrants are not even eligible for neither program.
“None of this is true. Therefore, it is very difficult to comment a fundamental strategy regarding an objective discussion. Because it doesn’t exist. It’s simply about insisting on a narrative that, fortunately or unfortunately, I think unfortunately, continues to be popular in the USA”, continues José Gomes André.
At a time when Republicans have a large majority in various federal bodies, trying to blame Democrats is “an essential part of this narrative”, concludes the international politics expert.
