The government () awarded this Friday (14) the National Order of Educational Merit, a decoration intended for personalities who contributed to the area of education, politicians, digital influencers and writers.
At this Friday’s ceremony, government ministers were awarded, such as Fernando Haddad (Finance), Esther Dweck (Management and Innovation) and José Múcio (Defense), ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), such as Gilmar Mendes and Alexandre de Moraes, and influencers such as Felipe Neto, and Débora Aladim.
The first lady, Lula da Silva, was also decorated. In total, 262 names were awarded. The ceremony was held at the CICB (Brazilian International Convention Center), a venue for major events in Brasília.
The title can be awarded to national and international personalities who have stood out for “exceptional services” provided in the area.
The list also includes writers Ruth Rocha, Pedro Bandeira, Marcelo Rubens Paiva and Ailton Krenak.
Government leaders such as senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA) and federal deputy José Guimarães (PT-CE) were also awarded.
The event takes place on the same date as the 95th anniversary of the MEC (Ministry of Education), and was led by the head of the department, Camilo Santana.
“You work in the most important Ministry on the Esplanada. I apologize to my colleagues here”, said Camilo in his speech, aimed at the employees.
Honorees are recognized in five different degrees: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight. Created in 1955, appointments and promotions to the Order are made by decree of the president, upon proposal from the Minister of Education, after a favorable opinion from the Council of the National Order of Educational Merit.
The awarding of the National Order of Educational Merit is part of the actions to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the MEC, which has carried out activities throughout this year to celebrate the trajectory of the department.
