The Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes Group of Schools (), in Olhão, hosted the session “Financial Literacy with a focus on Savings” in the auditorium of the Secondary School with the same name, organized by a team from the University of Algarve and led by Ana Rita Rijo, PhD student in Quantitative Methods Applied to Economics and Management at the Faculty of Economics of UAlg.
The initiative was part of the “Educating for Citizenship: Saving, a Commitment to the Future” program, promoted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation as part of World Savings Day, celebrated on October 31st.
The group emphasizes that “Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship promotes the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values and attitudes in the financial field and use them to make informed decisions about financial resources, budgeting, savings and investment, fostering the spirit of initiative, the creation of value, proactivity, curiosity, perseverance to achieve objectives, ethics and social responsibility, in order to prepare children and young people to face economic and social challenges of the contemporary world”.
The session aimed to provide students with essential tools for responsible financial management, reinforcing the importance of savings and informed choices in an increasingly demanding social and economic context.
