The PF (Federal Police) arrested, on Wednesday night (13), a French citizen wanted by the courts of his country for the crime of domestic violence. The arrest took place at Galeão International Airport, on Ilha do Governador, in the north of Rio de Janeiro.
The man’s name had been included in the in February 2024. According to French authorities, he was being investigated for attacks against his then partnerallegedly committed together with a nephew.
Investigations in France identified the suspect’s fingerprints and statements that supported the criminal case.
After the investigation began, the accused left France, passing through Belgium and then Senegal, a country of which he is also a national. French justice during the period in which he remained outside the national territory.
The man was arrested upon disembarking from a flight from Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, in compliance with an arrest warrant for extradition purposes issued by the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
The action was conducted by teams from the PF International Cooperation Center in Rio de Janeiro (NCI/Interpol), the PF Special Police Station at Galeão International Airport (DEAIN) and the International Captures Sector of the International Cooperation Directorate (SECINT/DCI), in Brasília.
After the formal procedures, the prisoner was sent to the Rio prison systemwhere he will remain until the conclusion of the extradition process to France.
