The death toll from a wave of Russian drone and missile attacks on the Ukrainian capital Kiev has risen to at least six, officials there said on Friday. TASR informs according to the report of the AFP agency.
“Rescuers discovered another body,” the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said in a statement. “The number of victims of the Russian shelling of the capital rose to six,” the department added.
Victims in an apartment building
All six victims died in one apartment building that was targeted by the Russian attack in Kyiv.
This number was also confirmed by the head of the Kyiv military administration, Tymur Tkachenko. At least 24 other people were injured.
Damages and the summons of the ambassador
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the attacks in several districts of the capital damaged apartment buildings and debris from the Iskander missile also hit the Azerbaijani embassy. Azerbaijan summoned the Russian ambassador in this regard.
The main target of the night attacks was the capital city and its surroundings, as well as the Kharkiv and Odesa regions.
On Friday, Zelensky described the attacks on Kyiv as “heinous”, AFP quotes.
More victims in the south
Two people were killed after a Russian drone attack in the south of the country, Ukrainian authorities said.
