States that have benefited most from the measure so far are: São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná; there is still R$2.1 billion requested in the analysis phase
The National Bank for Economic and Social Development () has already approved R$7.6 billion in credits for companies affected by the American tariff. According to the bank’s president, this corresponds to 535 operations requested by 134 large companies and 401 micro, small and medium-sized companies.
The states that have benefited most from the credit line so far are: (R$2.2 billion), (R$1.2 billion), (R$1.1 billion) and (R$900 million). There is still R$2.1 billion requested in the analysis phase, totaling R$9.7 billion.
At a press conference to present the bank’s financial results, Mercadante also said that there is an expectation of “accelerating” transfers, following the changes announced by the federal government this Wednesday (12). “The big demand is working capital and there was only working capital for you to look for new markets, but many of these companies are producing for the market. Now we will have working capital in general.”
The president of BNDES also highlighted the decision to expand credit to suppliers of companies affected by the tariff. According to him, this new modality should be available from November 24th. “For us to be able to serve companies, transfer resources to partner banks and approve and release resources, we need basic information: which are the eligible companies? The Federal Revenue Service, together with the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), which provides this information, is the one that has the export data.”
Mercadante explained that the IRS and the MDIC together make this list and this comes through an application from the Federal Data Processing Service (Serpro), which has already said that it will be delivered by the 24th.
