SP Food Film Festival transforms CCSP into a stage for cinema, flavors and free experiences until November 23rd

Free screenings, exclusive tastings, a gastronomic fair, accessible sessions and films that celebrate world cuisine invade the Reserva Cultural, Centro Cultural São Paulo, and CEUs of Circuito Spcine, in a program that combines cinema, food and culture like you’ve never seen.

Flavors, films and free experiences: the SP Food Film Festival brings together gastronomy and cinema in an immersive program that promises to win over all audiences

From November 13th to 23rd, the () becomes a meeting point between gastronomy and cinema with the return of , which reaches its fourth edition more diverse and complete. The event brings together free screenings of films and documentaries, tastings after the sessions, a gastronomic fair, show classes with chefs and special programming for the TEA public — all with free admission and tickets distributed one hour before the sessions.

In addition to in-person programming, the festival also covers streaming which offers a special selection of films linked to cuisine and food culture between November 17th and December 6th.

32 free sessions to eat with your eyes — and with your taste buds

The unique experience of the SP Food Film Festival is back at Sala Spcine Paulo Emílio, where the public watches films that celebrate gastronomy and then tastes dishes inspired directly by the scenes shown.

Children’s programming is also present: the animation “Deu Preguiça” has sessions on the 16th and 22nd of November, both followed by a tasting of Guacamole with Nachos. The French-Italian co-production “Frango pra Linda!” (2023), aired on November 18, ends with a Karaage prepared by chef Tan Tseng.

Among the international highlights, the Iranian “My Favorite Cake”, awarded in Berlin and shown at the Rio Festival, arrives at CCSP on November 16, at 7:30 pm, with a tasting of vanilla cake with orange blossom water. Nostalgia is not left out: the classic “Goonies” will be shown on the 19th, at 7pm, accompanied by chocolate tasting.

Closing the in-person program, on November 23rd, at 7:30 pm, the feature film “Abe” — directed by Brazilian Fernando Grostein Andrade and starring Noah Schnapp and Seu Jorge — discusses cultural identity through cuisine, followed by vegan Mjadra.

Gastronomic fair and show classes complete the experience

On the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of November, CCSP hosts the SP Food Film Fest Fair, bringing together small producers and cooks from different regions. A space dedicated to artisanal production, sustainability and the appreciation of the local economy.

The public will also be able to watch show classes with chefs after some selected sessions, reinforcing the encounter between cinema, gastronomy and the exchange of knowledge.

On streaming: films that discuss food, culture and territory

From November 17th, the Spcine Play platform will make available a selection of films that treat food as a social, cultural and political expression. Among the highlights are:

  • “Hands on the Earth” — about the Ecological Farmers Fair in RS, with the presence of the director at the in-person session on the 16th, followed by a tasting of organic brown rice with seasonal vegetables.
  • “Mopái Pjuta Ãkakje’y – The Farm and Myky Foods” — a portrait of the ancestral knowledge of the Myky indigenous people.
  • “The Poison is on the Table I and II” — documentaries that denounce the impacts of pesticides in Brazil.
  • “Para’í” — poetic narrative about Guarani identity and the reunion with traditional corn.
  • “The Great Quilombola Supper”, “SobreVivências: Alimento Conecta”, “Abá e Sua Banda”, and “FreeRange Doc.”, among other titles.

All films also have in-person screenings at CCSP or at the Cultural Reserve, some with special tastings.
