Trump demands investigation into links between Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Clinton

Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Clinton shake hands in 1993.

“Records show that these men, and many others, spent much of their lives with Epstein and on his ‘Island’”, says the US president: “Epstein was a Democrat, it’s a Democrat problem”.

US President Donald Trump announced this Friday that he will ask the Department of Justice and the federal police (FBI) to investigate the links between Jeffrey Epstein and various figures and institutions, including former Democratic President Bill Clinton.

At a time when his own relationship with Epstein, the millionaire who was convicted of sexual crimes involving minors, is the subject of , the US President indicated that, in addition to Bill Clinton, the former Democratic Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, the investor, businessman and co-founder of LinkedIn, Reid Hoffman, the JP Morgan Chase bank and “many other people and institutions” would be the target of an investigation.

“Os Records show that these men, and many others, spent much of their lives with Epstein and on his ‘Island.’”added the Republican leader in a message published on his social network Truth Social.

Trump thus once again expresses himself on the Epstein case, after having published another message hours earlier in which he accused Democrats of creating a “political farce” around the case.

“Jeffrey Epstein was a Democrat, it’s a Democrat problemnot from the Republicans”, he wrote, stressing that the scandal “is manufactured” by his opponents.

The House of Representatives (lower house of Congress), led by a Republican ally of Trump, is expected to vote next week on a bill that requires the disclosure of documents related to the Epstein case, despite reluctance from the White House.

During the presidential election campaign, Trump promised “major revelations” about the Epstein case, but since returning to power last January, the American leader has insisted that the judicial and media case about Epstein is “a political manipulation designed to weaken” the Republican administration.

The scandal gained new momentum this week after the release of ’emails’ attributed to Epstein, in which the businessman claims that Trump suffered abuse and that he “spent several hours” with one of the victims.

The US President has repeatedly denied any involvement in or knowledge of the crimes committed by Epstein and his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwellsentenced to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking of minors, from whom she is awaiting a presidential pardon.

Epstein, an influential figure in New York high society and close to politicians and businesspeople, before the start of the trial, in a case officially classified as suicide, but which continues to fuel conspiracy theories about one to silence compromising testimonies.
