Force brings together ships, aircraft carriers and troops in action against groups classified by Washington as “narco-terrorists”
The President of the United States, (Republican Party), ordered the implementation of a military operation in Caribbean waters. Called “Lança do Sul”, the action aims to combat what it classifies as “narcoterrorists”.
The Secretary of War, in a publication in X, stated that the operation will be carried out with the Southern Military Command, which operates in the Caribbean and Latin America.
“This mission defends our homeland, removes narco-terrorists from our hemisphere, and protects our homeland from the drugs that are killing our people. The Western Hemisphere is America’s neighborhood – and we will protect it.”wrote Hegseth.
The operation signals the expansion of the campaign that the US is carrying out in the northern hemisphere. The military device encompasses almost a dozen US Navy ships and around 12,000 sailors and marines, in addition to the insertion of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford —the largest in the world— in the Caribbean area.
The operation increases tension in the Caribbean and Latin America and provokes a reaction from congressmen in the United States. Democratic and Republican lawmakers question the scope and mandates of the military action.
Despite this, on November 6, the United States Senate passed a proposal that would require Trump to obtain congressional approval before ordering military action against Venezuela.
The North American government justifies this by saying that Venezuela cooperates with drug trafficking organizations and corrupt agents. The Venezuelan president, (United Socialist Party of Venezuela, left), denies this and says that the narrative serves as a pretext to weaken his government.
Venezuela its armed forces for a possible North American offensive. The plan includes “guerrilla tactics” to respond to possible attacks. Mature on Tuesday (11.nov) a “Command Law for the Comprehensive Defense of the Nation”. The norm determines the meeting, under the same control, of the Armed Forces, government entities and civil groups to organize the population and institutions around national defense.
Maduro is already willing to negotiate with the USA, but also that “no one will take away independence” and Venezuela.
Since September, US forces in international waters, killing at least 80 people.
