Unemployment among women remained considerably higher than among men in the country in the third quarter of 2025, show data from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Pnad Contínua) released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics ().

The unemployment rate was 4.5% for men in the third quarter, compared to 6.9% for women. On the national average, the unemployment rate was 5.6% in the period.

By color or race, the unemployment rate was below the national average for whites, at 4.4%, well below the result for blacks (6.9%) and mixed race (6.3%).

The unemployment rate for people with incomplete secondary education was 9.8%, more than triple the result for people with completed higher education, whose rate was 3.0%.
