Brazilian Nauhany Silva beat Portugal this Saturday (15), in her debut at the Billie Jean King Cup, in Hobart (Australia). Naná, as she is known, aged just 15, triumphed over the Portuguese Matilde Jorge, number 255 in the world.
She closed the decision by 2 sets to 0, with partials of 7/5 and 6/4, in one hour and 39 minutes.
Naná’s result encouraged Brazil, who won all three games in the early hours of this Saturday (15), in their debut in group E.
Next, Laura Pigossi beat the Portuguese Francisca Jorge by double 6/4 in a duel lasting one hour and 41 minutes. The Brazilian maintained control in the decisive moments and increased her advantage in the confrontation.
Ingrid Martins and Luisa Stefani confirmed their third victory by beating the Portuguese Inês Murta and Angelina Voloshchuk by 2 sets to 1. The Brazilians dominated the first set 6/1, suffered a comeback in the second 6/4, but regained control in the tiebreaker, closing the game 6/3.
Because of the victory over Portugal, Brazil will compete in the early hours of this Sunday (16) for the group E title against Australia, the home team.
