Celso Barros, pre-candidate for the presidency of Fluminense and former president of Unimed Rio, died this Saturday (15/11), during the period in which the company sponsored the Tricolor Carioca. The pediatrician was 83 years old and suffered a heart attack.
Celso Corrêa de Barros had a distinguished career in his profession as Director of the RJ Doctors Union, Advisor to CREMERJ and as Director of the Brazilian Medical Association.
In football, he was president of Unimed during the period in which the company sponsored Fluminense, between 1999 and 2014. During this period, in addition to helping the club leave Series C, he won the Copa do Brasil in 2007 and the Brazilian Championship titles in 2010 and 2012, in addition to the state titles in 2002, 2005 and 2012.

He also helped Fluminense to sign big names, including Romário, Edmundo, Fred, Conca and Deco.
Pre-candidate for the presidency of Fluminense for the 2026-2028 three-year period, Celso died on the deadline for approval of the tickets.
