The company Viva Parques, which won the concession to manage four municipal parks in PE for 30 years, advertised an online company in at least three of these spaces, which tend to be .
In March this year, the company took over the operation of the Jaqueira, Santana, Apipucos and Dona Lindu parks. The company paid R$413 million for the concession. The contracts provide for interventions to guarantee the preservation and improvement of the sites, with the construction of new courts, work on the running track and renovation of bathrooms, among other points.
The betting advertisements were spread on a running track in Jaqueira Park, on a grandstand in Santana Park and on a sports court in Dona Lindu.

When contacted, Recife City Hall, administered by (PSB), said it had notified the company to remove betting advertising from spaces that are mostly frequented by minors, “following the guidelines of current legislation”.
He also argued that the concessionaire “has already carried out several improvements in the four parks under its management, such as renovations of bathrooms, courts and sports spaces”.
“The business model envisages attracting sponsorship from brands that allow the projected investments to be financially supported, including betting, which was recently legalized in Brazil”, he states in a note.
Viva Parques states that “all advertising displayed in the parks strictly follows current legislation and the recommendations of Conar (Brazilian Advertising Self-Regulation Code), including specific rules for betting companies, and is never directed at minors”.
The company also states that “private partnerships are essential to enable, at no cost to the population, a series of social deliveries in the parks that go far beyond improving the physical structure of the equipment, but are converted into sporting and cultural experiences, such as daily classes, sports schools of various modalities, health collectives, workshops and artistic actions”.
