Explosion in Argentina leaves 22 people injured; flames reach 20 meters

More than 20 people were injured on Friday night (14) in Argentina due to a series of chain explosions in the Ezeiza Industrial Park, located in Greater Buenos Aires. The wave reached the urban area, causing broken glass, poisoning and burns.

This Saturday (15), the work of around 40 firefighters continues to try to put out the fire, while investigators continue to analyze the case and develop the first hypotheses about what may have happened. Two helicopters are also being used amid flames that reached 20 meters high.

Argentina’s largest airport is in the city, but so far the flow remains normal.

What is known so far?

Ezeiza City Hall released a statement stating that no signs of chemical contamination were found in the air as a result of the fire in the industrial plant’s factories.

Although the origin of the fire has not been officially confirmed, the investigation is working on the possibility that the fire may have started at the company Logischem, which operates in the storage and distribution of chemical products. Potentially, it then spread to neighboring businesses.

Which companies were affected by the fire

According to Clarín, one of the main Argentine newspapers, the fire spread to neighboring companies such as Iron Mountain, Larroca Minera, Almacén de Frío, Aditivos Alimentarios and the distributor Salón.

The fire department’s operation is currently focused on protecting the Flamia company to prevent a new succession of explosions. Companies like Sinteplast and Molinos Cañuelas, which also deal with flammable materials, are out of danger at the moment.
