Extradition and revocation, Zambelli’s future should be defined on November 26th and 27th

Parliamentarian was sentenced by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to ten years in prison and loss of mandate for involvement in the invasion of the CNJ system

Italian justice has scheduled a hearing for November 27th that will analyze the extradition of the deputy, who has been preventively detained in Italy since July 29th, after spending time on the run. The hearing is scheduled for 9 am (Brasília time). The analysis takes place amidst the opinion given by the Italian Public Ministry that is in favor of the extradition of Carla Zambelli, and while the of the Chamber analyzes Zambelli’s impeachment process. The opinion should arrive with the decision on November 26th at the CCJ

The president of the CCJ, deputy Paulo Azi (União-BA), informed that the evidence production phase ended on Thursday (13). Now, a period of five plenary sessions will be opened for the rapporteur, deputy Diego Garcia (Republicanos-PR), to present his opinion, which must be presented on November 26th. After the vote in the committee, the process will go to the Chamber plenary, which will give the final word on the impeachment. The loss of the mandate requires the favorable vote of at least 257 of the 513 deputies.

The parliamentarian was convicted of to ten years in prison and the loss of his mandate for involvement in the invasion of the CNJ system. Zambelli left Brazil in May along the border with Argentina, avoiding migration control. From Buenos Aires, she traveled to Florida and, in early June, headed to Italy, where she allegedly believed she was protected by her Italian citizenship. However, on the same day of his arrival in the European country, his name was included on the Interpol broadcast list. The STF has already requested his extradition and is awaiting a response from the Italian courts.
