Former mayor of , Hélio de Oliveira Santos, joined the and is expected to seek a position as federal deputy in 2026.
He was in charge of the city from 2005 to 2011, when due to alleged involvement in a bid fraud scheme. Doctor Hélio was a federal deputy from 1999 to 2003 for the PDT, the party for which he spent most of his career. He was also affiliated with the MDB.
Doctor Hélio is part of a new wave of PSDB members, which is trying to rebuild itself after shrinking in recent years. The former minister was the name with the most impact that the party recently attracted.
